MY FOURTH WEEK
Day 1
On October 8, 2023, the day began quite early after we received an invitation the day before to participate in the Unity Parade. We joined the procession, aiding in carrying our department’s flag, and marched from the Balogo Sports Complex to Sorsogoon Capitol Park amidst the early morning heat. All departments within the Sorsogon government were in attendance, and as DICT interns, we were requested to accompany our supervisors. Following the parade, the inauguration of the kasanggayahan festival took place, along with a day-long program held inside the gymnasium

the second day of 4th week what i did is that to continue the things i do yesterday , im also managing the DICT Fb page for peoples inquiries and mesaages. and i have time to study

For the third day of this week what i did is to watch some webinars with regard to techtalks since im manging the DICT fb pages i have freedom to watch some topics or recent videos of DICT when it comes to techtalks. In the aftenoon read our literature in our thesis , i read about related project in our thesis

The fourth day of the fourth week at DICT brought an exciting learning opportunity. I participated in the "TECHTALKS THURSDAY: EPISODE 2 - Your Data Privacy in a Nutshell: RA 10173" through a Zoom meeting. Our guest speaker, Mr. Odine Raphael Areola, enlightened us about the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and its critical role in safeguarding our personal and sensitive information. Mr. Areola shed light on how this act protects us from identity theft and fraud. He emphasized the importance of accountability and responsible handling of our information, urging us not to take data privacy for granted. We learned about the steps we should take when applying for a job or when someone is collecting information from us, including when and how to disclose our data, always keeping the legitimate purpose in mind. The session also covered the fundamental principles of data privacy, such as transparency, legitimate purpose, and proportionality. Mr. Areola delved into the scope of these laws and our rights under them. However, the most captivating part was the discussion on penalties and sanctions. These penalties vary based on whether the information is personal or sensitive, encompassing unauthorized processing without consent, improper disposal, internal breaches, concealing breaches, malicious disclosure, and combinations of these acts. Throughout the session, Mr. Areola provided numerous examples of common actions that people often consider normal but are, in fact, violations of this law. This opened our eyes to the crucial aspects of data privacy that many may not be aware of. The participants in the Zoom meeting shared their insights and comments in the chat, contributing to a deeper understanding of this law. It became evident that privacy is indeed a fundamental human right and not a matter to be taken lightly.

Review of Yesterday TechTalks
The workshop also emphasized fundamental data privacy concepts like openness, legitimate purpose, and proportionality. Mr. Areola elaborated extensively on the scope of these statutes and the rights accorded to us under them. However, the most intriguing aspect remained the discussion about fines and penalties. The repercussions vary based on whether the information is personal or sensitive, encompassing unauthorized processing, improper handling, internal breaches, violations leading to harmful disclosures, and combinations of these transgressions.
During the session, Mr. Areola provided several examples of common activities that individuals perceive as normal but actually contravene this legislation. This revelation shed light on crucial aspects of data privacy that many people are unaware of. Attendees of the Zoom meeting expressed their viewpoints and perspectives, contributing to a deeper understanding of this law. It became evident that privacy constitutes an essential human right.
